As we move into the Winter season, the weather will become cooler and we will find that we become more susceptible to colds and flu.  Did you know that colour can help you to increase your ability to make more Vitamin C and allow your immune system to flight off infection quicker and easier.

Yellows and oranges are really good at increasing serotonin levels and also Vitamin C in the blood.  These colours work with your liver and digestive systems to break down the food so that it is distributed more easily around your body and gives vital vitamins and energy to all areas.  Plenty of Oranges and lemons, kiwi fruit is also high in Vitamin C and if you want to add a supplement start in September so that the immune system can build gently so that is ready to fight infection in the colder months.

Red gloves and scarves are a must for the kids and red socks definitely help the circulation on very cold days.  They increase the blood pressure very gently and allow the circulation to regulate a little faster so that our bodies can produce a little more energy to fight infection and stave off the cold.

Colour blindness is quite apparent in 1 in 10 boys and 1 in 200 girls where kids do not see the colours clearly, mainly red and green and blue and yellow.  If you notice different colour socks, uncoordinated clothing and they lack expression in the name of the colours then it might just be colour blindness.

There is some stigma attached to this condition, which is genetic, but tests can be carried out be qualified doctors and opticians very easily and there are plenty of useful tools available to kids in school to learn how to deal with this condition.  Don’t let them think they are any less intelligent; colour blindness has nothing to do with their learning ability – see www.colourblindawareness.org for further information.
